Just a good reason to get out. For me it feels like it sharpens my wood sense. I think trying to figure out the "why" helps me during hunting season. I also enjoy the Easter egg effect.

I’ve picked up exactly one elk shed. Took it home and it sat in my garage until one day I looked at it and said, “Why the hell am I keeping this?” And tossed it. Since then I just leave them, and the skulls I’ve found.

I call it "scouting" then I call it "bear hunting" and if I find some sheds, that's cool. I keep them because people see them, think they're cool, then I'll give them one or two. Then, wives think it's a great idea for their husbands to go wander around in the woods all day in hopes of finding more, when in fact we're actually scouting or hunting.

Just another reason to get out. Also, I'm mostly scouting and looking for sign more than Sheds.

Just getting out there as much as I can, if I find one its an excellent day, that meant it got missed by the money hunters.

Also as someone else said on here "and pretending to still be young:LOL:"

I found a moose shed a couple weeks back. Once the snow melts some, I'll be back out looking for the other half.

Spring is definitely the time of year to get out and go for hike after long winter, sunny spring days in the outdoors. Bonus if you find some bone and good practice for tracking also. Who doesn't like another few antlers laying around.

Another season for my labs (upland/waterfowl/sheds) is what I tell my wife! A goal of mine is collect a couple of sets of a young bull and when the time is right harvest him and be able to show his story over the years.

The reward of finding a nice set of fresh elk sheds after a dozen miles is hard to beat. Its great exercise, and its not something money can buy, the pile of horns in my basement is a lot of tine and miles and Im pretty proud if it to be honest. My wife thinks Im nuttier than squirrel shit though haha.

Odin says what isn’t there to love ❤ about antlers if you think about the drive and self motivation to hunt this passion is very similar 🤩the miles in great untouched country so isolated in the spring is very enjoyable unlike hunting season you seldom seeee anyone outside of my two crazy friends with me or just Odin or previously Magnum🥰61D78B99-B172-4499-BBD2-74B0CDC534A7.jpeg0DC5D91E-4DDA-403D-970C-757D1AAC6638.jpeg03EF6B65-B9DA-47CC-97AD-37156701D86D.jpeg3B0DCA68-C0F9-44FE-9B23-33B882BD0057.jpegE0F03FA5-9644-4712-8AD1-15C84885D333.jpegEAE4FD1B-1DF8-4A6B-B6D6-BF02D8272A36.jpeg

I have never heard of this till now, but come to think of it, lately I have been taking my son out into the woods and pointing out evidence of animals (especially deer). Point out beds, droppings, tracks but haven’t had the luck to find any sheds. It has been excellent fun for both of us

I just love being in the woods and it gives me a goal. Plus sheds are cool. Found 7 so far this year.
