HONEST QUESTION: RE: Shooting a Coyote while you're on a sit for Deer...

I was sitting a ridge hunting migratory mule deer this year when a beautiful blonde Coyote came strolling by at 100 yards. I didn't shoot him. I regret it because I would have tanned him and had him on the back of my couch right now and I didn't see any deer that day anyway.

I have shot them but honestly 99% I just watch and let them pass. Shooting 1 or even a handful of yokes won't really do anything meaningful to help a deer herd. Most researcher says hitting them hard before the fawns hit the ground does the most good. Most of the areas I hunt (public or private) are trying to take off a ton of deer anyways. If I'm hunting my buddies place and he asks me to shoot yotes, sure, I like to keep him happy.
