Homemade Calls

Anybody ever make their own calls and had success with them? I am making a elk call out of a piece of elk antler. Just got to figure out what material to use for a reed now.

I build cow elk calls and coyote calls quite a bit. I can give you some advice for your reed material and tuning if you'd like. Some of the first calls I built were antler like that, with the tone board shaped on a small 1" belt sander. I hardly use antler anymore. Here are a few I've built recently.

Ive made a bunch of turkey calls. pot calls and box calls. Its mostly all I use while hunting anymore. Plus Ive given them to a bunch of other buddies. Its a cool feeling
