Holy Condensation!

I think pitching the bottom of the shelter 4-6" off the ground does more for condensation management then a bug nest IME, but I do both. :)
Luke,i saw your pictures with the RAM and the SO tipi pitching off the ground, how do you do this set-up?Did you pitch it normally and relocate the stakes after?About cold night...with this configuration dont you have cold draft on you?I am asking because its about 1 time,i had a lot of condensation and dint know what to do,i open the zipper on the top both sides ans started the stove...a pack was touching the wall and it was shower time on this area.

Reaper,

I attached line to all guy out points on my Cimarron as well as each line have a tensioner. I usually stake out with the guyline tensioners fully extended and can snug up later if need such as the material stretches when it gets wet from rain or such. Seems to work well. As for the draft, I suppose you can get a bit of a breeze on you at times compared to a traditional double wall tent, but nothing I have really thought about or lost sleep over. Certainly less drafty than the guys that are just using flat tarps and a bivy....

Good Luck!
A buddy and I went out with the BCS and never had much trouble with condensation, even next to a stream. We make sure to utilize the guy lines to create more pitch on the walls and it worked great We had the tent pinched tight to the ground. Headed back up this weekend for the rifle season. Loved the experience of the floorless shelter.

Just got a Cimarron and will be giving it a good test on an upcoming elk hunt. This will be my first floorless camping experience. Do any of you guys use a ground cloth under you sleeping area. Thanks!

I do, keeps the grass seed etc out of my socks and other things, just want to keep it inside the walls so it doesn't provide a pathway for water to puddle in!
