Hogs in Colorado

Are there wild hogs in CO?
Ive a friend that killed a big brute of a hog on a pay to play ranch somewhere in southern CO back when I lived there around 2009. He was new to hunting and didnt realize what it meant to have to give advance notice if you wanted a "hogzilla hunt" or some goofy title. Sounded like they placed a beast of a boar in a corn pile in the woods then led my buddy in to shoot some hog farmer's wore out old boar. He didn't want to do it again. On a side note, the chops weren't too bad other than a little tough.

For the most part, no there is not a huntable population. They don't want hogs here so they mention it and made them open season so in case one comes in out of Texas or Oklahoma they can be eliminated before they get a foothold

If I recall correctly, it was in 2004 when wild pigs were first reported to be in Colorado. In 2010 there was an estimate population of wild pigs to be between 200 and 700 animals; pretty piss poor population growth. But then there have been eradication projects on public lands that have taken place. But still, over this amount of time, it's easy to state with confidence that pigs are not all likely to take hold in any real numbers, not in Colorado anyway. But if you want a very informative read on wild pigs I suggest:
