Hog hunts

I guess if you want guaranteed kills and only want to spend two days hunting you probably should go wit a day lease or outfitter that has stands and feeders with lights. Just depends on what you want. I've killed 6 hogs since October on public land and the places I like the best aren't even open to hunt right now. So it's certainly doable on public. You just have to decide if you want to pay for it with dollars vs time and sweat.

That said, there is a place just down the road from me that I could recommend. Stretch a string outfitters. The guy who runs it used to come into the bow shop quite a bit. He's a good guy and a great recurve shooter. It's a true east Texas experience lol

You guys are planning on keeping the pigs?? I did this with a group of buddies over spring break one year. We went down to south Texas and shot some. We thought we'd keep some pork too...... The ones we kept were so flea and tick infested we decided right then and there we wouldn't ever keep one to eat again. One buddy grew a beard for 3 months, big beard. He kept a small pig and ended up disappearing and shaving after about 3 minutes of trying to cut it up. Then that night, everyone had a hard time sleeping, as we could all hear the fleas moving around on all our crap. Not sure if this is only a texas thing or like that everywhere.

That said, it is a blast when you get into them and I would definitely do it again if I didn't have to travel so far.
