People have asked previously about the ELD-VT line from Hornady, and their effectiveness. They are my new go-to Hog / Varmint Rounds (174gr ELD-VT); highly destructive. I’ve been reloading a handful of different projectiles for my thermal mounted rifles, and wanted to see what the 174gr ELD'-VT’s would do in a 16.25in barrel with 1:12 twist. Typically, I use 168gr ELDM’s for majority of my hunting in all calibers (especially 25CM and 308). I tested different loads, and took them to 300yds to see how they hold. ELDM's are a touch more accurate in my rifle, but that os expected due to twist.

I’m reloading these to achieve 2500fps which keeps velocity I want to 400yds (1900fps). Jumping 0.039 from touch. At 300yrds, they stabilize, but you do need to ensure to measure bullet base to ogive and separate them (helps with consistency). 5 hogs down, 2 foxes, and a smile on the landowner’s faces. Foxes were coming from the chicken coops. In the video, Two were hit on the run at 150m/164yds and 196m/214yds, and the first at 138m/150yds. The headshot left nothing left of the skull. 11 animals taken thus far, and all dropped hard.
