Would you recommend a 300 BO over the 6.5 Grendel or vice versa for hunting Hog?

I have a ddm4 pdw in 300...were you shooting supers or subs when you did try with the 300?

125 nbt's and 110tac-x the gun is super fun to shoot , quiet and accurate but the 243 has same recoil but hammers them with 80gr gmx

if you are in an ar pattern I'd go 6arc unless you have a huge reason to stay 300

Grendel. The 300 at best is a 150 yard gun IMO. The subs are only good if you hit them in the head at less than 100 yards. The supers have a hard time getting enough velocity to expand well. It’s just not meant for larger animals at any real distance. Clearing a room. Yes it’s awesome. But that is what it was designed to do.
Will it kill. Yes , will you lose more than you recover. Yes. Go with the Grendel with 123 sst’s. Head or high shoulder and watch them drop out to 300
Yards.

I kill a lot of hogs. They are tough, I’ve seen them run 100’s of yards with a shot right in the boilermaker. That being said use any caliber you want and shoot them in the neck right at the base of their head and they will be dead right there. I will head shoot if they are running but if they are stationary their head never stops moving so neck is where it’s at.

6.5 trumps the 300 blk all day , everyday on deer and hogs
Especially on the above mentioned neck shot

Now that’s a load of hogs!! Only time we can kill them like that is if we set our trap. We prefer not to though and hunt them spot and stalk but will if there’s a bunch of dudes that want a pig to butcher.

Do not waste your money on a 300 BO for hogs, multiple other better options. 6.8 spc, 7.62/308, 300 Hamr, etc assuming you're interested in AR platform.

We have had limited success with 300blk. Most of our group switched to 308's last season with much better success. Second the neck/head shot.

I have killed all my hogs with my Ruger M77 25-06 with the same load I use for deer and antelope. Like mentioned earlier, I try for neck shots as it doesn't ruin any meat and kills instantly. I like to shoot sows around 100 to 150 pounds as this is the size I have found are the best eating.

My hunting buddy used to do hog eradication as his profession. He refers to the 300 BLK as the 300 WalkAway, especially with subsonic loads.
Pick something else and take only head/neck shots on pigs over 100 pounds or so.

Literally anything you want. I’ve killed more with my .22lr while squirrel hunting than any other gun.

You can use either. However...We don't use either in my group. My best bud uses a 458 socom but he's killing them at 50-100 yards over feed. I have had plenty of success using 556 with match bullets and I have a dedicated 6arc for night stuff. It's pretty perfect far as I'm concerned
