My dad always cautioned me to be careful around domestic boars. Now I know why. Looked like most of them little piggies gave better than what they got.

I had a buddy in CA who was riding his four wheeler through a brushy area when all the sudden it was on top of him.... He squirmed out from under it and a large boar was standing there having stunned himself when he rammed the side of the ATV. He shot him point blank with the .270 that had been slung over his shoulder.

Another friend was cutting firewood with a running chainsaw when a hog came out of the brush and chased him into the bed of his PU..... They can be a bit moody.

After running them with dogs and catching them we would put the dogs on the tailgate and sew and superglue them back together. A big boar is no joke. I never got cut but some friends have.

Hogs are the other white meat. They are barbecues waiting to happen. Do not fear the meat...kill the meat.

True wild hogs are no joke...

I've only had a couple charge me while bowhunting...usually if you stand still they can't differentiate you from a tree.


Hunting with the dogs is a whole different ballgame....if cornered, they disregard the dogs and recognize you as the threat...and if possible- that is, if the dogs couldn't control them- they will charge you almost every time.
