I did one of Cerakotes air dry products on mine. I think I used a 400 or 600 grit piece of sandpaper to do a light scuff. Then wax and grease remover. Let that flash off and then sprayed. It's been on for roughly 6 months and 1 hunt. So far so good. I have done a barrel swap on this build to shoot some NRL hunter. Was shall see.

I like it. That is cerakote applied to the stock then? Any idea how they get the pattern?

Hard to say the exact technique, from what u recall the painter preps the carbon, applies the material in a pattern that looks a bit like the forged from manners, then clears over it.

Shameless plug- if you want one like this Altus will hook you up.

How is this holding up? Id like to add some sponge paint to mine but a little worried about traiditonal spray paint. Assuming the air dry could work if prepped correctly?

So far so good. The bottom of the grip is seeing some wear from sitting on concrete shooting benches. Other than that pretty darn good. I ate it pretty hard in WY this fall. Went down on so big rocks. Scuffed my NF and muzzle break. Stock looks good.

Nice. Would I have to spray you think or if I blot with a sponge to apply and dry should be good? (With proper prep of course)

The viscosity of the air dry stuff is fairly thin. Sponging it on would probably work fine. I just don’t know how it will hold the texture or if it will try to level out from being so thin.

I did mine about a year ago with the H series. I've pushed through miles of alders since and the rifle doesnt have a scratch. I tried the air cure product on another rifle and wasn't happy with how it held up.

So you didn't bake it like typical h series cerakote, just blotted or sprayed with the h series, let dry and it's still held up?
