Lots of jobs out there, people have to want work
That's the problem. The company I work for is constantly hiring at our 52 plants. Here at OKC were are almost always in need of maintenance techs or operators. Most guys use chatgpt to make a "maintenance" resume and then they can't check a fuse with a multimeter. The operators will tell you their attendance is great in an interview and then they show up late or call off within the first week.

You can teach skills but can't teach them to care.
 
Looking to hire a senior level construction estimator/ project manager in the Eugene, OR area. Must have experience in Federal/ State level heavy civil work. Construction Management or Engineering degree required. Very competitive pay and benefits.

I feel the maintenance frustrations all the time. I bring a hydraulic and an electrical schematic to an interview and ask them to identify or explain certain things. I have one guy with “10 years troubleshooting hydraulics” on his resume that could not identify the pump on the schematic
