Yes, just depends on weather and location. If it’s dry and good enough conditions it’s a good option.
 
I do for weight. I run a Soulo without inner but on a ground sheet when I am camping on really exposed stuff for sheep hunting. Works great. I think it dropped a pound.

I e used my allak without the liner, it was good but not for all conditions. Ok for early or later use when bugs aren’t an issue.
 
I run an enan for most everything, generally without the inner. I either use a footprint to maximize inner space or I run a bivy under the outer if I think finding a flat spot will be tough where I am hunting.
 
Yup, Niak with footprint and no inner regularly. It’s not a great option if a lot of wind, then you are going to want one of their 4 season tents so the fly goes to the ground.
