Hey Guys,

The Anjan 2 seems like a pretty good 3 season tent. I've had an AKTO before and looked at something a bit bigger that I could use as a solo shelter but also have room for another person at times (15-20% of the time at most). The Anjan 2 would have decent weight savings but still come with Hilleberg quality that I love.

I've considered Tarptent, CopperSpur, Hilleberg, and open to ANY option except I'm not a floorless guy.

One concern I've got with the Anjan is the wind sweeping under the walls or having water splash under them as they dont go all the way to the ground. Any real world experiences with the tent in harsh weather?

Thoughts or comments?

I have run this tent for about 2 years now and can say for a tent it is one of the best in the World. I have been in it from 100* days to 0* days. There is no issue at all with water splashing up under that side wall. You can get it pretty close to the ground and the inner tub has never gotten wet once. The wind is almost minimal really. It has to be some really intense wind to blow under that outer layer. Honestly, this tent will hold up to almost everything for 3 season use

Sent Aron a message on FB and will be seeing him in a couple weeks so I'm sure we'll chat about it as well. I knew he'd provide some good input.

Thanks armyjoe, this is the type of info I'm looking for! Real world experiences!! Thanks again!

I have also had a LOT of experience with many mountain/backpacking tents and in the very areas where you are/will hunt.

IMHO, NOTHING made, anywhere, that I have seen is equal to the Hilleberg line of tents.

My 2010, IIRC, Saivo, is SO good as compared with other "expedition" tents I have owned/used, that I take it on every trip in my 4x4 and seldom ever use any of my other tents.

I have a green Soulo, bought about 3 years ago and just never use it, as the Saivo does so well.

I would bet that if you buy an Anjan, you will be happy and totally satisfied. As I am getting on, and have two of Evan's G/T tents, I may sell my Soulo, because I will now never use it.

BTW, Trevor, PM me for some info. on purchases.

This tent was raffled off last week at our Wa Wild Sheep Foundation banquet but I didn't have any luck. I'm looking into a new tent mainly for myself as well but with the possibility of adding a 2nd person or my dog at times and I keep coming back to this tent at the top of my list as well. I was also looking at the MSR Hubba Hubba NX but this tent just seems totally bomb proof for a bit more money.

I'm looking at the Anjan 2 as well. Anyone have any recommendations on where / when to buy? Do they ever go on sale?

I don't know about sales, but, I have purchased three Hilles, one Integral Designs MKI-XL, a Valandre Shocking Blue and a lot of other gear from Charlie Jennings, of Bear River Outfitters, in Utah.

I have had outstanding service in all respects from him and his performance is SO fine that I now deal with him on anything I can as he is much better to deal with than ANY Canadian dealer I have experienced.

I don't have a current addy/url for him, but, his phone number is 435-764-1111....I think that you will find him as satisfactory as I have done for several years.

Anyone running the mesh inner tent for the Anjan, or know how much weight that shaves off? For some reason Hilleberg doesn't list the weight of the fly only pitch or the mesh inner.

I never understand when companies claim things are "light weight" or " weight saving" and then don't list weights for said product.

Edit - another option I've been looking at is the Nemo dagger 2 tent. Not any reviews I can find on it but looks like a cheap, light, strong dome.

The 'mesh' liner for the Akto, Soulo, etc weigh more than the fabric version, just as an FYI.

Not sure about the Anjan.

Recently picked up one of the Anjan 2 tents from a forum member here. It is going to be a great solo fly only tent, or to use with my wife all up, when she does not want to deal with the critters.

Here are some weights for the Anjan 2 after I cut zipper pulls and replaced with cord ( Kelty Triptease). And replaced the stock guylines with Kelty triptease. And I replaced a few of the nylon stake out straps and metal rings with same cord ( actually that was lightweight MSR cordage). All of this really does not save a ton of weight, but the cordage I used is quieter than zipper pulls, and the Kelty triptease absorbs a little less H2O than the stock Hille cord.

But I did tie on (2) black nylon cord sections ( about 13-14 ft) for the bottom across where the poles end ( so now just like the Nallo's and other Hille's are) so I can set up fly itself easier. And that added a little weight back. Hilleberg really should have put those cords on the Anjan like the Nallo's to make setting up the Fly alone easier. Because with out the cord to hold the shelter when set up alone, it is a royal PITA to do, and requires you stake out the pole ends as you go.

First time I tried to set up fly alone on this tent, I thought what the he!! is going on, my tent is less than 2 ft' tall. Then I realized without cordage ( or an inner tent, or footprint) the fly just flattens out. First I thought they just forgot the cordage that is on the Nallo's, but then I realized these do not come with the cord. But long story short ( made longer by me :) - it is easily solved by tying on your on cord afterwards. And I just plan on keeping it on all the time - like the Nallo and others do.

Tent it self was pretty close the spec weights when I got it. Tent weigh a hair over 3 lbs 14 oz all up.

Weight of everything all there after above alterations ( and adding the (2) cords for easier fly only set up.- 3 lbs 12.5 oz. So, not much difference for quite a bit of work. But the reflective Kelty triptease is quiet, and absorbs less water.

Components:

Solid inner weight ( and those that say it weighs what the mesh inner weighs or close are correct). 20,45 oz
Fly weight- 22.20 oz
Fly and poles- 33.85 oz
Fly, poles and stock Hille stakes ( in their stake bag)- 37.95 oz

I also have a footprint and that is 8.95 oz. I probably would only use that with the fly in the snow when winter camping.

So, weights are not too bad- even with the whole tent. Especially when you figure my (2) Leki trekking poles that I use to set up my 16 oz tarp weight about 15 oz. And then you add in stakes. So, 2 lbs 6 oz for Fly. poles, and Hille stakes is not too bad.

The only ways to get a hilleberg sale I know of.
1. Buy used
2. They have floor models/open box models for a reduced price on hillebergs website.
3. Barneys does an annual 10% off sale.
