Alpine hunting is the only place I've talked to. That considered an estate? I picture estate being a fenced in area and this is not that, and not interested in a fenced hunt.

Alpine hunting the outfitter in NZ? most definitely estate, all 'Big" red stags are behind wire here. If its over 300" SCI....it aint a wild one

Welcome!

I'm headed to the South Island in June to chase Tahr. Can't wait, first time in NZ and I've been wanting to go for ages.

Are you in the wine industry?

Damn. Just read their sight. They have 5000 acres with a 6ft fence around the perimeter. Says fence is 20 miles long. Did not know that. Still considered fair chase? They jump a 6 ft fence?

If its behind wire, its behind wire.

'Fair chase' is a term used by guides to make hunting behind wire sound better. Its a game park, regardless of how you think about it. The animals are behind wire, and farmed as such.
The fence wouldn't be there if it didn't work......

Lots of misconceptions about the industry here, but ALL those big stags you see, are behind wire. (big being a relative term)

I would agree about the misconception part. I had no clue this was a fenced ranch. Sure is a pretty place though and the fishing looks awesome!
