HHA Sight Question- How to setup sight head to maximize distance?

Hey guys, I have a question regarding the setup of a single pin slider sight to maximize the travel of the dial and essentially allow me to shoot longer distances.

Aside from the standard limitations like arrow weight, draw weight, FPS, etc... does mounting the sight housing at the very top vs. the very bottom make a difference? Does one location allow for more travel over the other?

I included a picture below for reference of the mounting spot I am referring to.

Mine is mounted in the bottom holes. Gives you more distance. I'm pretty sure they make a bracket to mount the whole site even lower for more distance.

PMcGee- thanks for the reply. Thats what i was thinking but was looking for some reassurance.

I am looking to use the trick pin system mentioned by Darrin Cooper and am hoping to set my "zero" at 50 yds, and use that for anything under 50. Then use the slider for the longer distances of 50+

I might mess around with the trick pin system as well once the weather warms up.

Just make sure you have enough arrow clearance when it's all the way down. You might have to play with your anchor and peep to get it set to zero at 50.

I'm also pretty sure that the distance that you can get out of an HHA is the same no matter what holes you put it in. The travel in the head is the same, it's just a matter of peep and anchor, other than changing the zero.

The 3rd axis addition might put it out a shade further and give you a little more "distance" in the travel.

It depends on your bow and peep sight set up. I had to set mine up, find 20 yard, take measurements and adjust my head and sight placement accordingly. I don't know if anyone can tell you exactly where to set yours as your peep will be set unique to you and that has the most influence. Your draw length and weight and arrow weight do as well though.
