Looking for a good cross over scope. I have a new production Winchester model 70 Extreme Weather SS in 7mm Rem mag. I currently have a Zeiss V4 3-12x56 mounted on her. I am looking for a replacement scope. Unfortunately this year, it failed. I missed a deer with it. I never miss with that rifle. I killed 4 deer with her. I mounted it on my gun vise and bore sighter, I discovered that it was a foot off to the left! I dialed it back in. I took it out shot a group with it and seemed it was good. Then I fired another subsequent group to verify it, I noticed it was drifting to the left again. I am very particular about torque specs. Before range sessions and hunts I Always check my bases and rings. After that I started to investigate. I came across you all during my research. I seen various drop tests and durability tests. What brands to get and what not to get. I was shocked that reputable manufacturers failed said testing. Also I received permission to hunt on a local farm so my shots are now longer than normal. I'm curious to see what scopes you all run and what's recommended for applications from close quarters woodland hunting to field hunting. It has to do both. I want ruggedness and repeatability and good glass.

Welcome from Central and Southwestern Virginia! I split my time between Albemarle and Tazewell counties. What part of the state are you in?

What rings and mount are you using?
What torque values are you using?

I recommend checking every part of your system before you decide the scope is definitely the problem. But, if you do determine it is the scope, then I recommend looking at Trijicon and SWFA. I’ve used them a ton and trust them implicitly.

For a set-it-and-forget-it scope, I like the Trijicon 3-9x40 AccuPoint.

For an all-around dialing scope, I really like the SWFA gen2 6x or 10x. I also just mounted my first SWFA 3-9x40 and will be taking it to the range soon.
