I'm in the process of getting my rifle tuned in for general season. I've got a Model 111 Savage Rem Mag in which I've got barreled with a 26" 1:8.44 proof research carbon cut rifled barrel. I'm looking to find the perfect fit factory ammo for my rifle/barrel length and twist rate. I'll be hunting deer and elk this general season and would like to find a bullet that will do justice for both occasions. Anybody have any experiences in ammo that's working well for them or a suggestion on a specific grain I should be looking for according to my barrel?

Most would have had the chamber set up for a specific bullet/load. With that twist you should be looking at the heavier loads available.

That's an odd twist rate. I have some Barnes long range bullets for 7mm that state on the box for 1:8 twist rate or faster to stabilize, might be 168 grain bullets. You could try those but we tried them in a M700 long range rifle and the bullets were tumbling at 100yds. Twist rate was 1:9.5 I believe, but they may work for you.
