Have not been in the custom rifle world so out of touch. Used my late sons Model 70 30-06 on a late cow hunt. need to put this thing on a diet!
Suggestions for a light composite (carbon?) stock. Want conventional sporter. Staying with BDL floorplate parts. Steam lined hunting rifle so no high cheek pieces, rails etc

I see Peak 44 mention here for one but would like to look at all the options. Less than $1K
Thanks

I don't think peak 44 inlets for Winchester.

Mcmillan does edge-filled sporters for model 70, should be pretty light.

I have a Pendleton composite on mine that I've been happy with so far. Mine is a slightly more modern vertical grip version but he has some sporters as well.

There's stocky's but they take some effort for the DIYer it sounds like, inletting seems a bit rough.

Bansner I believe inlets for model 70.

On my last pre 64 M70 project I used a Bansner "miller" stock and am very happy with it,
Should save you 1/2 lbs.
His website is frustrating. can't find weights anywhere. Makes about as much sense as advertising rifles with no caliber chamberings.

Unfortunately the venn diagram of folks that build stocks for model 70's and those with accurate website specs have virtually no overlap lol

I had great results with the Bansner Sheephunter on my M70s.
Did you have Mark do a custom inlet for you? I was wondering if this was an option, but have not had good luck getting any responses in the last several months (calls, emails, online form)...

I think I might try the Miller, but have a couple of nice pieces of wood i might mess with as well
