**HELP** Winchester Model 94 cracked chamber

Was shooting my model 94 today and noticed this piece of metal gone. Is it safe to shoot or do I have a boat paddle now?

Im not familiar with those. Does the extractor protrude from the face of the bolt?

Im assuming its a .30-30 or similar rimmed cartridge

Being a rimmed cartridge, I would think the barrel needs a relief cut for the extractor. Im thinking about all of my 22LRs, they all have a relief cut around the chamber for the extractor to be able to get in front of the rim.

Thats what I thought of immediately since the top and bottom appear to be perfectly parallel.

Found a YT video, on the one im looking at the extractor is at the bottom but there is a protrusion on the bolt that would line up with that cut. If it wasnt there, the bolt wouldnt close.

The extractor for an 1894 (not angle eject) is a long flat bar housed in the top of the bolt that hooks over the rim of the case and ejects upwards. It isn’t in the location of the damage shown in the photo.

The rifle shown in the photo with damage is a “newer” model, possibly an angle eject model. I don’t have any experience with those because they are inferior : )

theres a reason I said it was a 40's era.

Not knowing the history of that rifle prior to the OP getting it. And not knowing when that chunked out a lil. I'd probly still run the thing. Though I do have a bad idea every so often

I wasn’t directly replying to you though I can see how it may have looked that way. My comments were for the OP just as an FYI
