I have recently purchased a 9.3x62 rifle with hart barrel on it. So far I have fired 17 rounds from the rifle using 286 grain PPU ammunition. This brass is allegedly decent quality and I hope to reload them. After looking at the once fired brass I noticed a mark right at the case head on each one of them. The mark goes around the case and is identical on each case. I thought this might be a sign of impending case head separation but there are no other signs of high pressure around the primer pocket/primer and these are off the shelf cartridges. Could it be just the imprint of the rifle chamber? Should I be concerned? Thank you for all the help!

I believe that is where the brass has expanded and then rubbed on the chamber as they are cycled.

When you load measure that spot before and after running through your sizing die. You want it to shrink a little so that the reloaded ammo will chamber easily.

That is the general area on PRC cartridges that causes clickers, same type of issues on WSM cases.

No concerns from me about using your brass to reload.

If I had to guess, there is a pretty significant transition in case thickness there and plenty of room in your chamber at the same location - the body expanded significantly above that transition but not below it upon firing.

I'd probably want to cut a case open or get a better look inside to figure it out before putting a bunch of firings on them but I wouldn't necessarily be scared to see what happens with another sizing/firing cycle either.

Unfold a paper clip and make a small turn in it and run it into the brass. If you can feel it catching on the inside of the case in that area you need to toss those cases because you are about to experience case head separation.
