I've narrowed it down to an exped ul 9 synmat at 30 oz or a exped ul 7 downmat at 28 oz. They are both close in weight and R rating and I'm leaning towards the ul 9 synmat for durability. You need to use a bag to inflate the downmat to keep moisture out but it is lighter. Both are very close in price also. 20 % off and free shipping this weekend so i need to pull the trigger tomorrow. What would you guys get ?
These are both long wide and I really do need the size and I'm going to use it with a Revelation X 10º down quilt so I need the insulation also as thats the only thing under me.

Given similar construction of outer shells and if moisture isn't an issue, the Downmat will be the most 'durable'. I've never used or seen a synthetic that lasts like down, as far as lofting ability over years of use goes.

So... :) I'd go with the Downmat. Saves ya couple ounces too...

I have been pondering a new mattress myself. I have really had enough of my thin old thermarest. Skimming through all the memorial day sales I came across the Big Agnes Q-Core. I purchased the long wide for like $130 onsale and free shipping. It is not a superlight pad but I am willing to carry a few extra ounces for comfort. Having received some excellent reviews gave me the push.

Thanks for the replies so far. I was looking again and the downmat is $25 more now. Really starting to lean heavily towards the synmat now but I'm not pulling the trigger until tomorrow so I may change my mind a half dozen times between now and then.
