Help me decide 6.5prc or 7prc

I shot a 4x4 Roosevelt bull through the lungs at about 100 yards, 300 Wby Mag, 180 Partition. He was looking right at me. All he did at the shot was turn his head and start to casually walk away. Another shot got his attention and the third dropped him.
Shot a spike bull through the lungs, walking, at about 60 yards, .30-06 with 180 Partition, loaded HOT. He kept walking. Second shot in the back of his head dropped him.
Should I be unimpressed with the 300 Wby Mag, or the .30-06? Maybe Partitions?
Headstamps don’t matter, bullets do. I’d say the partitions penetrate too deeply without shredding tissue, this doesn’t allow them to make that atomic bomb impression on the animals some more frangible bullets will do.

So I'm looking at getting a new seekins Precision ph2 for western hunting. Mule deer/elk. My question is, would you go with 6.5prc or 7prc and why? I own a CA Ridgeline in 6.5prc and have zero issues with it. I have two sons that will eventually go out west with me to hunt so they will need a rifle to shoot as well.
Get a 300 Win mag and never worry about anything again.

For sure, forget the 6.8W. Hard to find ammo for it now...in 5 years it will be even harder. Winchester is the worst in supporting it's new cartridges and the main reason for the WSM failures amongst many others. Yeah, just another 270wsm and 7wsm in the makings.

I like my 7PRC even though I'm a 300 Win Mag guy.

My point is, animals don’t always react to getting shot.

One of my fastest kills on a bull was a 140 grain Partition from a 7mm-08, 346 yards. Quartering away, back of the ribs on the right, exited in front of the left shoulder, no CNS, knocked him flat.

Partitions are plenty frangible, especially when driven fast. The base holds together but the front expands pretty violently.

I’m barely a rifle hunter. I have always shot rifles for fun. But, my most accurate rifle is a Browning in 7prc and it’s very easy to shoot suppressed.

I own both as well. The 7 prc recoils more but isn’t terrible with 160 cx.

I like them both but fine myself reaching for the 6.5 prc when I go out…

If getting a Seekins, consider the 6.8W. Best of both worlds. Recoils closer to 6.5 prc and heavier bullets/more energy like the 7 prc. Lots of Elk getting hammered with it on 6.8W FB page. Of the 2 PRC I would prefer the 6.5prc unless just dead set on shooting Elk at some extreme range where the LA and heavier recoil of 7prc makes sense.

6.8 western seems to be the sweet spot, but will anyone other than winchester or browning make components and ammo?

ADG is making brass. I don’t know if anybody else will make factory ammo. Barnes seems to be most likely in the near term. Nosler said they were considering 6.8W and 300 prc next in a podcast last year where they were announcing the 7prc.

Any info on when ADG will do another run of 6.8W brass? Every time i check their website it shows out of stock. Same with all their dealers sites. Maybe im just timing it wrong but i would have gone down this path a year ago if i could have readily available components where it didnt feel like i was jumping into a dead cartridge.
Hopefully more companies jump on board

ADG did an initial run in Sept/Oct. A bunch of people were on waiting list so went quick. I have seen somewhere (don’t remember where - one of the dealers) full production run is 1st quarter of 2025 but I have not seen exactly when. Now that hunting season is winding down I am going to do some load work up with ADG brass.

Edit - unknown says Jan 2025
