Where are your shooting them with a 22lr? Is it legal in Colorado? I know big game is limited to a .243 cal I believe.

Ok, for what it's worth,,,,, I killed my 1st Cat in 1963, NW High Desert Country in Nevada, Washoe County,,,, Riding Fence Line, with my Dog,,,,, Oh, and yea I used my 94 Win. .25-35, and yea, I've still got that Rifle....
Over the yrs, I've Trapped/Shot over probably a dozen Cat's,,,,, they aren't that hard to kill,,,, their "Pussy's".....

I’d say out of your options the AR in 223 would be plenty for a cat. That is probably the gun that’s easiest to shoot at any rate.

22mag or 17 hmr a lion doesn’t take a lot abuse. Whatever the smallest caliber you have that’s legal in your state.

If you have to ask then don't go out looking for a cat. He'll find you long before you'll find him.

I would like to kill one with my 204 ruger. Berger 40 gr hp. Or a hornady 45 gr soft point.

What’s the sense in blowing a huge exit hole in the offside? The shots are mostly sub 20 feet, let alone 20 yards. I’ve got 100% exits with both 22 mag and 17 hmr on cats and that’s all I ever carry with me. Unless I’ts still a sentimental thing, I get that too, but no need for all these overkill guns on cats
