Hey guys, never posted before. I've hunted for years with bow and rifle with some success, but wanted to get into a better rifle. Been using a savage .308, with the cheap nikon bdc that came with it. I've since given that rifle over to my wife and kids and just picked up a tikka tx3 rougtech .308 already cut and threaded at 16", and am waiting on it and my B&T print-x 762 suppressor (Colorado 72hr wait, and ATF jail currently.) Looking at mid priced scopes and saw a guy on here selling a vortex viper hd 3-15x44 new for 500 and wondering if that would be a good start for this one. Mainly a mule deer/bear/antelope rifle, but would like to stretch its legs at the range and get better at 500+ yard distances. Thanks.

Definitely check out the trijicons. I’ve migrated my main rifles to trijicons already and the rest will get them as funds allow. After you read the scope evals I believe you’ll have a lot more confidence with the trijicons than a vortex.

Yeah, just checked and I don't have enough engagement to dm or post on classifieds, so I guess I'll have to find another avenue to find my new scope.

They come up for sale on the classifieds about once a week. You can also just get one straight from SWFA since they restocked a couple of weeks ago.

Thanks guys, went a different route and bought a zeiss v4 conquest 4-16x44. Really loved a buddy's i looked through, and camerland had one for under 800. Excited to get this out and shoot!

What mounts are you looking at getting?

Waiting on the gun to decide...it has a rail installed, but I'm not sure what type/condition. Headed to get my can now, form 4 was just approved!

Those Savage combo scopes were probably the worst product ever to wear the Nikon name. Get your family a better scope.

For your new rifle, I'd recommend skip the Vortex and buy whichever Trijicon you like that fits your budget.

Did you buy one with illumination ?
From my experience the v4 is in line for usability with the sub $1000 Trijicons, but not quite comparable to the Trijicons with dependability.
