Help finalize the "Dixie Zipper" (Mini CBK) for a group buy

I like the look of the logo close to the handle rather than the middle of blade. Could do that on both sides if two logos are needed?

They still seem to be available on the LSwild website. I’m pretty sure @hereinaz had said they were at a lower pre-order price, but I don’t know if he distinguished when that price would change or if there was a point that pre-orders would cease.

I don’t like aggressive jimping. This gives a bit of grip without being aggressive like a file or sandpaper.

What say you?

That spine engraving looks cool. The only negative I can think of would by potential for collecting gunk/a rust path. I can't say I've ever wished for more grip, but haven't ever used a knife with jimping either.

If it were an option I would take it to get more experience with jimping and think it looks cool. If it adds cost I'd probably skip it.

Here is another vote for a small makers mark for ls wild and nothing else. This is my first expensive knife and I'm planning on it being my hunting knife for as long as I'm doing it.

Being blunt here but large logos & goofy phrases laser etched into the knife are a major turn off and do not match at all with the high quality lifetime purchase I am treating this as.

As to the logo vs. maker mark, I am definitely on the less is more. As soon as the blades come in, I'll get a couple versions up for comment for the final version.

For the pre-orders, I'll let people customize their knife. I will be sending everyone an email with the options.

Let me just say, I’ve purchased a few products through the LS wild shop, and have always been impressed.
@hereinaz is a stand up dude. From one small business owner to another, I’m really impressed with what he’s doing.

I’m sure this pre-order and the knives will 100% meet the expectations of everybody involved! Keep it up man

Very slicy prototype…

Am putting simple LS Wild and Dixie Zipper makers marks on either side.

I am also playing with different grippy spots and shapes. This oval is minimalist and gives grip.

Any other ideas for what you would want to see?

Looks terrible, better send it to me to be disposed of.

Thinking back to my use of the CBK last year, I don’t remember using the side of the blade for grip. I do remember using the where the jimping would reside and tip of index finger close to the point of the blade.

I like it.
I’m getting spiderco vibes.
What about a large elk or moose antler outline with the oval around it as the laser etched grip portion?

I like that idea, and have been looking at that. I appreciate the pre-orders and promised something special, so I have been planning to offer extra customization with the laser.

Something cool and utilitarian for the grip was one idea. I was thinking elk, Mulie, whitetail, bighorn, and bear for the grip designs, in addition to the LS Wild and Dixie Zipper logos. I already want to have the designs for other stuff. It is easy enough for to put together the engraving files, I have a large variation of art for it. I will be sending it to the designer.

For production, the simple text maker marks will be the standard option. Spine jimping and grip texture will be standard options in the future. I don’t know that I will offer lots of choices after the preorders.

But, for anyone that pre-orders before Monday, I will be sending an email to all buyers to allow for changes and customization.

I am finalizing the details and options for the email now that I have the blanks.

At no additional cost, preorders will be able to:

Change their selections for handle material and sheath style.

Add the jimping on the spine and customize the words.

Add a grip texture pattern/logo.

Yes, those two points are where my pointer finger tended to go. Having the finger extended made the knife feel like part of the hand.

I am going to try lasering along the entire back of the spine.

I don’t know about timing, if it will work, but I would like to get some samples into the hands of testers to give feedback on these ideas.
