Good Evening Rokslide,

Not too sure where this post should go exactly because I haven’t said hello yet, and I’m also setting up this rifle based on the advice in this forum. Let’s start with degreasing some rings…

Full transparency, I had a pre-order in for the Marshall but some unexpected house costs came up so I had to cancel and then I told myself to quit being a bitch and to do it myself. (Tikka T3x Superlite 6.5 Creedmoor)

Q-tips and alcohol for the win. More grease than I expected but got everything cleaned up pretty good.

The action screws barely took any effort to unscrew and lo and behold look what I found in between the barrel and stock.

This rifle has been shot around 50 times and used in the back country the past two hunting seasons. This last September I missed an opportunity of a lifetime after a rifle fall when I slipped on some shale. Lesson learned… That experience is what brought me to rokslide and the research began. Turns out I had multiple issues that were preventable.

Before and after free floating. No doubt in my mind those leaves and sticks caused issues as well. Not anymore. This dremel bit worked well. I used the stock mold line as a reference and I took the material off almost to it. Finished things off with some finer sand paper and ended up pretty happy with it.

No more hand tight action screws. 65 inch lbs and some pink paint pen for good measure.

Here is how the free float turned out after the action was torqued back to the stock.
