Helinox Chair Zero Alternative?

Are there any chairs close in weight to the 18.5oz Chair Zero? Looking for a balance of light weight and cost.

The REI Flexlite Air. I think it is a couple oz lighter than the Helinox, but mine broke after less than 10 uses. So if you're 200lbs or more I wouldn't recommend.

My kid uses the REI one and doesn’t have any issues but she’s 100lbs.

I enjoy my helinox when backpacking. I think I caught it on sale and paid 100$ for it.

All the REI ones I’ve tried have been pretty tippy. The Big Agnes stool works well. Helinox can usually be found for 20-30% off throughout the year. Not cheaper but the Nemo moonlight is more comfortable.

IME, this very much depends. I found the Nemo pretty uncomfortable- the rear frame digs into my upper back. Buddy found the same. Probably worth trying them all for fit.

I’m going to get a Chair Zero for this coming spring bear season.

I love mine, but honestly the no name copies are good. Both my boys have one for backpacking and they work fine. They cost about a third of the helinox.

I guess to help you with your question completely, we got one knock off chair for my son off Amazon, and got the other one from Sportsman’s Warehouse. they’re both in a few ounces of my helinox

Go to a place that you can try them. I went to REI where they had a bunch of options.

I personally got the REI version because it felt more stable for me.

To each their own.

All brands are within a few OZ of each other.

I got an ozark trail from Walmart for $30 it gets the job done. Kind of a pain to pack back up but idk if nicer ones would be the same

Appears some folks are confusing the Chair Zero and other Helinox products. Bottom line is - to my knowledge - the REI Flexlite Air is the only real competitor to the Zero in terms of weight & function.

Nemo Moonlight Elite, was more comfortable than the REI chair and Helinox chair zero to me when I tried them side by side.

REI runs enough sales to get it 20% off.

My brother bought the regular (heavier) Moonlite chair, and I thought it was very comfortable. Until it started dropping my brother, me and anyone else who sat in it on the ground - that unique ball & socket attachment kept popping out. He returned the chair - but I have no idea if his issue was isolated or not.

I haven’t had any issues, the ball and sockets on mine are tight. The other thing I like is that the little fabric case spans the bottom legs to help prevent the sinking in soft ground.

I was confident that I'd see this was another of the billion of two-pound options and was very pleasantly surprised to see 1.36#. My Helinox Zero is 1.11# - this one is only 4oz heavier & the price point is very friendly.

It’s sturdy too. I didn’t believe it until I tried it.
