Does anybody know of 175 grain judos or something similar?

What about modifying regular judos to match 175 grain?

Need something to shoot at grouse.

I don't believe the authentic Judo point comes that heavy. I use the glue on Judos on wood shafts and insert a bullet sinker when I glue them on. It requires cutting the tip of the shaft point taper back but that has not caused any problems. I have used different sinkers to get my Judos up to both 160 grains and 190 grains.

The screw in version may require you to play around with weighted shaft inserts? Idunno. I think you can still get the spring arms as an add on behind a screw-in field tip or blunt of your desired weight - can't remember the brand but it is not a Zwickey product.

Grouse shots are going to be short range enough, a small game point of a different weight isn't going to matter much. If it's lighter, it's also less aerodynamic than a lot of heads, so may balance out. A little practice and you'll find out where it hits no problem. (G5 Small game head worked for me...)

Here are some VPA heads that come in 175gr. RMS Gear (and probably other trad-focused companies) has a good selection of heavier than normal small game heads.

Find some 150 gr field points and add an adder point behind it. Should come in at 175 and destroy a grouse. There’s also several options on 3 Rivers website

Field tip and a wing nut from hardware store will do the trick. Just have to find right combo of field point and wing nut.

This is how I do it. Heavy judo plus an adder and if needed a brass washer.

I use the glue on Judo head, which is more durable than the screw in Judo head.

Then I glue the Judo head onto a steel adapter. Here is the adapter.

You may have to cut down the adapter or drill holes in it to get the total desired weight. DO NOT use the aluminum adapter - they are way too fragile for stump shooting.

I really prefer the original Judo for leaves, dirt, sand, and grass, but they aren't tough enough for occasional hits to rock/gravel. You'll need the hex-type heads for rock/gravel.

How is a judo held to a screw in adapter by a glue joint more durable than a one piece point?

The glue on Judo has a much much thicker shank and I use JB Weld for the epoxy. I don't think I've ever broken one. The screw on Judo has a much thinner shaft. I've found that it bends. It doesn't bend easily but it will bend. Also, the springs on the glue on Judo are thicker. The springs on the screw on Judo are much thinner and fragile.

That's been my experience with Judo points. I love them.

Disclaimer: I bought the two types several years apart. It's possible that they are both made differently now. So my information might be old. You could call someone at 3Rivers or Zwickey and ask them.

Ah, sorry, I realize now were talking about Zwickey points, whereas I was thinking of "judo" like "Kleenex" in the generic small game point sense. Tracking now.
