Hey all, just curious if anyone has any pictures of any light sporter or pencil profile barrels in a stock with a barrel channel made for a heavier profile barrel like a carbon bull, sendero, sendero light, or something of the sort? It seems like there should be no problem with the exception of it looking a bit odd. If anyone has done this with good or bad outcomes, please let me know.

I tried searching it up, but only came up with heavier sporter profiles at the thinnest. Considering getting a new stock that I like more and rebarreling later. Just wanted to keep my options open so i'm not limited for rebarreling later if I decide to go with a heavier profile barrel (which is likely).

Thanks!

I have a tikka T3 lite in an Alterra stock that has a proof sendero barrel channel. It’s not the prettiest setup but elk haven’t complained yet. There’s enough dead cat clearance that pine needles and other debris falls right out. I’m getting ready to put a mcgowen 3b contour barrel on my action. Should be about right. I can pm some pics this evening if you want.

Tikka Superlite in Sendero. Doesn’t look odd to me at all.

This is what I was imagining it would look like, not bad at all!

Thanks everyone for the pictures! I think this is the way I’ll go. It’ll keep my options open down the road.

There is nothing to research.

A large barrel channel has zero downside.

I get stocks cut as big as I can now. If I can get a 1.25 straight that’s what I go with.

I had the same reservations. Thinking your barrel channel needs to look good is a right of passage to shooting enough to know it means nothing.

Sending stuff around because your contour you bought has a longer or larger shank, or not enough clearance when put together just means less money on bullets and powder.

Here’s a tikka lite contour in a m24 cut barrel channel.

Thx. Deciding how light of a profile to go. Not necessarily worried about looks. But like you said, this build I have no intentions of inletting and profiling.
