Hearing aids for hunting?

I got mine at Costco about 5 yrs. ago and it was their policy at the time to offer a free replacement if you lost one or both. I just can't remember the time frame, but 1 year sticks in my head for some reason.

They said I had to have my ears cleaned out or they would not do the test. I asked, don't you do that, and was told no we don't. As far as seeing then straight away, it's a 6 week wait time to get in.

Quick care can do ear cleanings usually. Might be your quickest option

Any of you guys with hearing aids have tinnitus? I have it - constant radio static in one ear. Just wondering what the aid does to that?

Typically, but not always, hearing aids will dramatically reduce tinnitus. You can find out real quick with just a demo pair of aids.

As far as wax, you can get Debrox and an ear syringe and do it yourself but it can be more difficult than you think. I’ve done it and I would definitely try that first. Use the Debrox 2-3 times to soften the wax before trying to rinse it out.

I've got it in both ears. Unfortunately my hearing aids have not helped with it. I understand that it's a crap shoot whether they help or not. I'm scheduled for a cochlear implant soon and hoping that will help.

I’m in my 3rd week with mine. High frequency loss so background noise always drowned out the person in front of me. Tinnitus is slowly quieting but not a huge amount yet. I didn’t go the Costco route but will next time. over the ear Signia models, with the app I was able to partially block noise behind me in the restaurant and hear my wife who was facing me. Quality of life i improving, I’m still getting adjusted to the fit and noise when it moves around behind my ear.

Bumping this useful thread.

What is the best technique when it’s time to shoot? Pull both hearing aids out and use some type of ear pro, like foamies? 90% of the time I have enough time to use ear plugs before the shot. Just wondering if anyone has learned of better techniques with their hearing aids.

I’m in the same position went ahead and bought the best I could afford, they have helped with my ringing in my ears at night time. It took some time to noticeably get better. I can hear turkeys and bird’s again
Too many years around power transformers
