I'm sure this has been discussed in the past but I'm going to go ahead and bring it up again. I'm in the market for a new headlamp (need to come up with some things for my xmas list), and looking for recommendations. My main considerations are; light weight, high lumen output (powerful), uses AA or AAA batteries with long battery life, and highly water resistant (doesn't have to be submersible). Things I'm not really interested in, but wouldn't keep me from buying, are; the ability to use as a handheld light, and strobe or red light feature. Anyone have the "latest, greatest headlamp" that they just can't say enough about.

Zebrlight 52 H . I bought my first one last year and another as a backup this fall and they are all I carry now. A single lithium AA battery will last me days in the field.

I learned about zebralight on here a few months ago and it didn't disappoint. Zebra H502w has worked awesome for me. Highly recommend them.

My buddy used a black Diamond (new model; don't know exactly, sorry) this year during elk season that was fantastic. I have an older black Diamond and his was 10x the light mine was. Zebra and Fenix both make great products. PrincetonTec is another. So many good lights to choose from.

Check out the Zebralight headlamps. Several models with different battery and lamp options.

I've got one of the H600w Mk II. It's awesome. Mine uses the 18650 battery. It will burn for days on lower settings, or you can blast over 1000 lumens if needed.

Also you can opt a neutral white LED on most of the Zebra's that have more of a natural daylight color, rather than the blue-ish color most LEDs seem to have

Black diamond storm uses your battery type, and has worked well for me for years.
If your willing to change battery type Zebra and Nitecore work well too.

If you want simple and easy batteries, the black diamond Storm and some years of the Spot are great for sure. They work. Haven't had the opportunity to try a zebralight though, lots of people seem to like em.

Funny. I found the Storm to be annoying and overrated (2013 version). The way it toggles between task and spot, the lame headband that gets lose all the time, the way I have to lock it after every use or it will turn on in my pack.... I've used it as my main light for two years, and I'm not a fan. It's been upgraded since, so maybe current versions are better, but I am trying a Coast HL27 now. Time will tell, but the infinite adjustability is awesome.

I have always used Pricenton Tec. Made in the US and a 5 Year warranty. My second would be Black Diamond, foreign made but do come with a 3 year warranty.

I had a Zebra. Not bad. Did turn on accidentally a lot (502 model). I switched to the Black Diamond Storm for $39.00 on Amazon. So far I like it. I like the number of modes and adjustable beam, plus red. Although it is a pain to switch between the modes sometimes.

I got a zebralight H52W. I'm very happy with it. low is great around camp, medium works on the trail, and high works well when you need more throw or just super bright light. I use mine a lot on high setting up anywhere from 5-9 dozen goose decoys in the dark and it's about perfect.

I was going to go with the 602 (the one that uses the 18650 batteries I believe) but I decided to stick with double AA since I already had a ton of higher end rechargeables and that's also what my GPS uses. I ordered mine right off amazon prime.

my old princeton tex eos has not died but it is slowly getting less use as my fenix hl 50 comes on line.

i could live with a zebra if i got the right one, i am sure.

one minor complaint about the zebra and hl 50 is that they have a shadow if you use a ball cap. but with out the bill on a cap they are too bright . still they are about the best i feel.

I've got a couple of Petzl headlamps from work so that is what I mainly use. I tried the zebra light last September and it wasn't bad.

I've had my $22 streamlight headlamp for a few years now. It has served me well. I always think about upgrading it, but there's no reason for me to. I'll use it until it takes a cr@p.
