Headlamps for hunting?

I bought THIS Black Diamond headlamp last year and was extremely happy with it. The bright setting is amazingly bright and the battery life was excellent. It has a cool feature where you just tap the outside of it to change brightness which comes in very handy.

I have a Princeton Tec Remix 125. I don't have any need for any more lumens. Get's me in and out of the backcountry for around $30 off of Camofire.

Zebralight h600fw. I really prefer the neutral white floody beam for blood traking. I like orbtronic 3400mah 18650 cells and xtar chargers alot too.

Am I reading this correctly for a Zebralight? 800 lumens? Hold shnikeys. I love my Surefire flashlight that is 200. I would love 800.

I've got several Princeton Remixes of different flavors and they have been great. That said, I'd consider something that has a lock out feature to keep it from coming on in your pack. I know some of the Black Diamond models have that feature and overall seem to be pretty popular.

i've used petzls and princeton tecs for years and just recently bought a zebralight. i'm never going back. i like standard batteries so i went with the h52Fw (neutral, floody, AA). the floody beam is great for up close chore work but has enough of a hot spot that i can find my way around in the dark in known areas. i'm probably going to pick up the sc52w (handheld, neutral, regular beam, AA) to pair with it so i can have some throw on hand if I need it.

I use the Black Diamond Storm. Mostly because it comes with an orange strap and housing so I don't walk off with it laying on the ground when I'm bivy or tarp camping. It also has the features I like. Those being a high beam, dimmer and red light. I am on my second one though. I got about three years out of the first one but I use mine almost daily. Especially this time of year when it's dark so early.

Yeah the lights that run on 18650s get really bright. I'm not someone who actually measures that stuff like those on candlepower forum so I can't say if the zebras make there claimed output or not but they're definetly bright. I think the h600fw mk2 is rated in the 900s. The h600fc mk3 is rated at 800 and has the new high CRI Cree LED. I'd get the h600fc mk3 if I was in need of a new headlamp.

Spend $50+ on just about anything in the headlamp world and you'll be happy enough with it. The only necessary features for me are a red light and somewhat lightweight.

I've used various models from Fenix, Princeton Tec, Black Diamond, Petzl and plenty of no name brands. I just purchased a Zebra Light based on the overwhelming positive reviews here on Rokslide and I'm impressed. It takes a bit to get used to the operation but it is incredibly lightweight and has a wide range of setting from very dim to blindingly bright. I'll likely pick up another that runs off of an AA battery in a more floody beam for camp chores but my h600w mkII would be pretty tough to beat for blood trailing or hiking in the dark. I struggled with the additional purchase of the 18650 batteries and charger but decided in the long run the rechargeable batteries will pay for themselves and they are impressive with how long they last and the output they provide.
