How "pack proof" is the switch on it?

Check out the Fenix HL60r. Im hooked. Amazing headlight. On par with Zebra lights.

Can't remember the model name, but I absolutely love my Black Diamond lamp. Great light out of 4 AAA batteries with awesome battery life. Multiple options as far as brightness settings. I will admit, a lot of my love for the lamp comes from the Black diamond customer service. I screwed up and left it in my truck through the winter months (thought I lost it on a hillside somewhere only to find it buried in my console) and the batteries froze, leaked, and corroded out the main circuit board. I called black diamond to see if they could fix it and they sent me a brand new one back right away free of charge. They got a customer for life for that!

I've been using Lithium batteries for a while now. Leaks and corrosion are much less likely. They cost more, but they won't ruin my light.

How cold and for how long does it have to be to freeze batteries?

None has mentioned the lenzer head lamps, I've had mine for a few yrs. now and very satisfied. The adjustable beam from spot to flood is hard to beat.
