Heading to WY unit 124!

Keep at it! Plenty of elk get killed by people that gave it just 1 more hour, one more drainage or one more glassing spot. The elk you harvest is always in the last place you look, 🙂
You were 100% correct! Thank you for the encouraging words.

A life lesson in perseverance all wrapped up on this thread. WTG and way to stick with it. You sound like you're about as bull headed as me. That fills tags sometimes and it obviously did in this case. Congrats!

“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan Press On! has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.” - President Calvin Coolidge

Just came across this awesome thread while soaking in some good elk hunting info. Was legitimately smiling while reading this whole post, great story and congrats!

Thank you! I couldn't have done it without the support and encouragement of the members of this community and my hunting friends.

How did you like your tent set up. Thinking of getting the same one for my dad and sons elk hunt this year.
Any picks of the inside
Heck of a bull and great hunt
Thanks

I love the Kodiak 10x14. I use it as a base camp and heat it with a Little Buddy heater connected to a 20lb bottle. I bought the tent first, then ordered the vestibule and footprint from Competitive Edge. I also ordered a 10x14 canvas tarp on Amazon and use it inside over my floor. A cot, sleeping pad and couple walmart rugs and I am comfortable for weeks. Good luck with your hunt this year. I wish I could have at least one hunt with my dad and my son.

I just got my bull back from Clay at Mogollon Taxidermy in Payson, AZ. I requested an offset shoulder mount. I can't believe how "alive" he looks. Clay is a true artist. I paid $1500 for the shoulder mount which was the highest quote I received but feel like this bull was worth paying a little extra for premium work.

That’s a great bull and the mount looks fantastic. Congratulations!
