Wondering if any of y'all Southerns on here can help a yank out. I'll be heading down to FL (Naples area) over the holidays (driving from Wi), and am curious about hog hunting. High fence is not my cup of tea and so far as I can tell I have missed all of the WMA application periods or they are all sold out already. Can any of you good 'Ol boys or gals down there point a fella in the right direction in finding a legit fair chase guide, or know someone who would allow a kind passer by to kill a hog(s) on their farm/ranch. OR even have some hot tips for next year in the way of public lands to investigate. Thank you kindly. Happy Holidays Folks

Check out Craiglist for that area or a local FB hunting group.

I'm in TX and if I'm working somewhere out of town that's where I always look to try and find some cheap hunts.

When I lived down there I thought that some WMA’s will allow you to take hogs with walk in access during small game season. I think maybe no centerfire, so shotguns, etc. FL has statewide rules and seasons and then each WMA will have there own brochure with sometimes different rules. Go to the FWC site, it should point you in the right direction for WMA’s down there near where you’ll be.

I’ll check it out if I have some time tonight. Following thread too.

Edit to add:

Found one sort of near that will allow taking of hogs during small game season, but no center fires.

6 hours south of me, but according to WMA brochures, neither Picayune Strand nor Big Cypress allow hog hunts during small game? That surprises me because alot of management areas are open to hog hunting for small game? Best bet might be a fairchase guide? Chasin bacon or Big Boar hunts look legit with prices around 300 bucks for a meat hog to 600 for a trophy. Good luck! If you happen thru north Florida give me a shout!

Good luck! Unfortunately, It's not easy to find that down here. Most Pay hog hunts are going to be off of feeders. Big cypress (public land) might still be in season depending on when you are down here. But the harvest numbers for hogs are terrible in big cypress, I think only a handful are taken each year from Big Cypress (a lot theories on why the hogs are missing). Ray P is right MOST WMA don't allow Hogs during small game season. The few that do allow it don't have many hogs anymore. PS. Born in Wi. and work in Naples.

I’m in coastal ga. Which is the opposite coast from Naples but not that big a deal. I can help you go hog hunt if you want. The best place is closed right now and might still be when you’re here but the second and 3rd best places won’t be. And deer season will still be happening also. This would all be public land.
