G'day,
I've run a set of Alpines for a few years now. I have punished them and have been extremely happy with the abuse they have shrugged off.
My pants are a 34 and I'm a shade under 32 now so they hang off me....it is not practical to take then in far enough to fit correctly.
I'm no Kuiu tragic, I'll run gear from any company if it performs. If I could skip the camo I would be cool with that.
Anyway what I am a fan off is below, in particular the 4 way stretch and the integrated pads.
- Knee pads
- 4 way stretch
- Side zips for venting
- Many pockets, all zipped
- Just the right weight
So looking at the Sitka Ascents or FL Corrugates as well as the Alpines as contenders for the replacement.
The Ascents can have knee pads, albeit internal ones. The Ascents and Corrugates are roughly the same kind of pant as far as I can tell from as websites, many similarities to the Alpines....If I wasn't on the other side of the planet I would just order them and send back what I don't like but shipping costs are substantial. To order and land a set of Alpines on their own is about $250 AUD.
Alpine, Ascents or Corrugates...brand loyalties & brand politics aside, which set has the edge for fit, comfort, durability and back country utility?
Am I missing a sleeper brand in this pool?
Cheers,
Dinger
