Hatch Bipod Gen 2 Standard vs Tall height

I want to buy the new Gen 2 Hatch bipod. I hunt black bear and Sitka blacktails in SE, AK. I currently have a Spartan Javelin Pro Hunt Tac Bipod, but I struggle with the 12" limited height. I end up having to find a new place to shoot prone or put my bipod on my pack to clear vegetation or some terrain that places the animal out of sight. I have played around with shooting off of a tripod and read every thread on here. I want to hear from people who have experience with standard or tall hatch bipods. Have you ever needed more height than the standard offers? Has the tall version ever been too big or cumbersome? These are examples of what I'm trying to figure out.

I have been looking at the Hatch but think I will wait to check out the new bipod from Tricer bipod

I have a tall hatch that I have used a lot in hunting and match and training. It works ok but it’s simply not robust enough for my needs. I’m constantly having to tighten the legs and the adjustments are not super fast.

The tall version is definitely a comprise when shooting standard prone and takes a large footprint.

That said it is pretty good for what it is. I know there are more alternatives out there now.

I have the tricer above on preorder.

I’ve ran the tall and regular gen 1 hatch. When I ran the regular I found myself wanting more height, and when I ran the tall I had a hard time shooting prone. I as well have the tricer on pre order.

*I just posted this on another thread but here are my thoughts on the Hatch*

I just got the 2nd Gen. Had a first gen 27" and really liked it but there were a couple small things I didn't like, which they fixed with the latest Gen. So far, love it. Haven't gotten out in the field with it though. I opted for the 27" over the 36" because it seems to be a little stiffer and it's tall enough I can go tripod rear while not having a huge footprint for prone, shooting off props, etc.

Big fixes for me were:
  1. A third option between lowest and highest leg splay options. Medium height.
  2. Cant is much smoother and better lock. Also allows for more degrees of tilt.
  3. The button to deploy legs is a huge plus over pulling them out and deploying
  4. The lever instead of a cord to splay legs is WAY better
Overall, very impressed. Big improvements over previous version that make it useable with one hand from behind the rifle. Really looking forward to using it in some NRL matches. Weight is with a Area 419 ARCA Clamp.

Don't get me wrong, it won't replace a triple pull but its a great option at half the price. We like to call it the Poor-pod or Poverty-Pull... Lol

I Roll with g2, love it. Speed it’s a lot quicker than twist locks.

My single biggest complaint is weight, other then that I made a bigger loop for the prone pull
