Hard Shell Options

I have m7, it’s a good late season jacket that breaths well enough to hike in. By definition it’s a hard shell, in practice it’s just a touch above a softshell. I don’t have much use for a soft shell. They don’t really do any thing well except breathe. If they block wind well then they don’t breathe well , at that point might as well skip it for a durable puffy, and rain hard shell jacket.

I will say the m7 is very warm and hiking in it over 30 degrees can get toasty if you are layered up. I hunted second CO rifle in it got to where in the morning I was just rocking a tshirt, light grid fleece, and m7 on my 20 degree hike ins.

im on year 4 with a kuiu yukon. multiple fly ins and hike in sheep/ goat hunts and elk hunts and still not a single tear and hasn't leaked yet.

pretty much all a person needs is a t shirt, light long sleeve merino top, puffy jacket and rain jacket and your pretty much good to
