No hassles. Don’t need to declare anything. It’s a standard checked bag.Since it is not a firearm, I'm suspecting the TSA doesn't get nearly cranked up for flying with a bow as a checked bag, right? Any hassles?
Yeah no hassle, don’t need to lock or declare. They might ask you if it’s a firearm.Since it is not a firearm, I'm suspecting the TSA doesn't get nearly cranked up for flying with a bow as a checked bag, right? Any hassles?
Do you just declare a firearm when you check in like normal? Thanks.Yeah no hassle, don’t need to lock or declare. They might ask you if it’s a firearm.
I often include a handgun in my bow case as I like to lock my case up and I find the airlines are less likely to lose (and will return faster) a declared firearm case. Plus you have your handgun at your destination.
YES. You are still checking a firearm and are subject to the regulations. It's a large case anyways, just with a really small firearm inside! It's one of my travel-to-hunt hacks.Do you just declare a firearm when you check in like normal? Thanks.
I did this as well on my Wyoming trip last fall. One TSA tip: if you have a firearm in your bow case, you need to have a lock on every lockpoint on the Bowcase.YES. Thanks for the advise. I'll send apple more of my money for some air tags. lolI did this as well on my Wyoming trip last fall. One TSA tip: if you have a firearm in your bow case, you need to have a lock on every lockpoint on the Bowcase.
I bought these for all the secondary lock points:
Sure Loc TSA travel locks - secondary
I bought this for the main lock:
Sure Loc TSA Lock - main
I also put Apple air tags under the foam of the bow case, as well as a separate one in the gun case.
Last, I put zip ties around my bow strings and riser to prevent TSA agents from dry firing my bow behind the security curtain.
Yah, brother I feel yah. That being said, knowing where your gear is as it moves through a major airport (Denver or SLC) is a bit of a superpower. I'm NOT jumping on a connecting flight if I see my gear isn't near the plane, and can go straight to the ticket desk and point that out, esp. if it's a firearm. It's worth the $20/tag just to have more information than the ticket counter. Thanks for the advise. I'll send apple more of my money for some air tags. lol
