Hanwag Makra trek

Considering these. Hanwag is one of few I haven’t had. Anyone w/ time in these wondering what the fit is like for you.

Interested in these boots sizing and performance as well. I see this was started in February. Have you had any luck finding any information?

I‘ve worn mine a lot and am happy with them. Good support without being crazy stiff. Fit is similar to Salomon or Crispi. Wider than a Salewa. Consider ordering up half a size. I can’t decide if the half size larger was because of boot sizing or my feet getting bigger.

I went from wearing crispi Thor’s for 2 years to just getting a pair of Makra Treks. They are definitely more boot than the Thor’s. Thors felt great out of the box, makras are definitely taking some break in time. Flexibility will probably end up being about the same once broken in. The Makras are warmer, seem to have more and thicker padding around your ankle. They are more narrow than any crispi I’ve tried, I had to go up half size up. I like the lacing, can really lock your heel in. Time will tell but so far I like them. Will put some serious miles on them in a few weeks for bear, can update after that.

Ended up ordering a 10.5 and an 11. I kept the 11. I’ve had them for a couple of months now. Like them a lot so far. Very comfortable ankle and heel. I have a pretty average foot shape and the forefoot is about perfect with a mid weight sock. To me they are not very stiff, super comfortable hiker. I live in the Midwest so take this next piece for what you want, they have felt stable to me on my training hikes w up to 60lbs. Just about exactly what I was looking for.

Did you size up because they were to narrow? Heard guys saying they are narrow and to size up if needed.

Man they seemed maybe just a touch narrow, but it was minimal if there at all. The 11 just felt better to me, plus gave me a tad bit of room for foot swelling.
