Bought my young teenager some Hanwags with the Integral Light Sole. I am impressed. For aggressive traction in loose soils, the Integral Light Sole dawns the best looking tread pattern I've ever seen! Reviews of Alverstone II, and other boots with these soles inevitably reference "good traction"! I'm gonna have to get me some! Too many (most) boots have a lug pattern that aren't spaced out well enough, and clog up and pack out whenever soils are damp. And the primary lugs are deep on these soles...I measure 5.9mm in the front and 6.15MM in the heel. Although I don't know what purpose these little triangle "sub-lugs" serve (circled in blue below)...I could do without those I think. Only negative, in theory, that I can think of is that the tread may wear down faster (because there's less surface area to spread out the wear), and certainly there would be better soles for rock scrambling...but I'd be curious to know what others think of these soles! Cheers!
