I had a harder time with a scope. I switched to an Ultradot and what a world of difference! I now shoot 3” groups at 50 y. Off a rest..Snyd , after meeting you at the range this summer, you inspired me to put an old 44 Mag that (rarely got used) to use. Recently put this together and I am bringing it to Kodiak with me next week. Hope to call a deer in really close. My god it’s hard to shoot this. I guess I need a lot more practice.

Ruger Super Redhawk 7.5". One of the new ones with the newer front site base. Great setup with the factory quick release rings if you want to add an optic. H3ill for stout, excellent action and tunable trigger. If you prefer a single action the Super Blackhawk Hunter with either the standard (plow handle" grip or my preference, a Bisley. My 45 Colt in the pics above is fabulous. Or... you could step up to the best revolvers made and go for a Freedom Arms model 83!Man this thread is killing me. I've really been wanting to start hunting with a pistol. Just not sure what to get other then I know I want a 44mag. I think that's the easy decision..now just what to fire it out of!
Get a 44 mag. You can take just about any animal in the world with it. Lots of projectiles out there for it. I am a fan of the A frame so far.Man this thread is killing me. It sure seems to me like it'd be fun chasing around hogs with a pistol! The SBH Hunters are great guns! Not as much as I used to. Most of the time I shot a .41 Mag Bailey Hunter or 6” 657 loaded with Swift A Frames. View attachment 346301
I’d say within 50 yards. Also depends on what your hunting.Question: with a 4" .357 (or an almost 4" 10mm) what would you limit shot distances to, realistically?
How far can you consistently hit a 6” target? Handguns don’t have any extra energy, the closer, the better. For me with a 4” iron sighted 357, in actual hunting conditions, 25-30 yards.Question: with a 4" .357 (or an almost 4" 10mm) what would you limit shot distances to, realistically?
