Love these bullets and my guns love them too, but I absolutely despise having to install the tips manually, one by one. I can’t believe Hammer expects the customer to do this tedious process for them, especially given the cost. I’ve put up with it because Hammer has said they have the tip machine coming and it’s only temporary. Well, they’ve been saying that for at least a year now. Kinda like their inflated BC values, I’ve given up on taking their word for it. Anyone know the inside scoop? Are installed tips ever gonna actually happen? I’ve been putting off ordering more.

They’ve been saying that for a loooonnnng time.
Exactly - have been hearing that for a good year or more.

It’s definitely annoying to install them. They shoot well out of my rifles, but since I don’t have to use monos and the Hammers are $$$, I don’t think I’ll be ordering more.

Meh, they go fast. Just one more step in the process.

Wow, I’m shocked to find that people don’t mind it. You guys must have dainty fingers.

Oh, never considered using fingers. I use forceps to put them in the tipping block.

It took you more time to write this post than to tip your bullets.

Now I don't disagree that its an inconvenience, but its a teeny tiny inconvenience compared to almost everything else I deal with daily at work and at home. The false BC numbers piss me off way more than the tips.

Not criticizing, just food for thought

I agree they should be doing it but it doesn't take that long to tap them in. with a decent hammer and platform you can knock them out pretty quick

I have been curious about these bullets for a while now.
Let me ask the crowd, what is so great about them?

I get that they are solid copper and that they hold up under high speed impacts.
But they are super expensive and honestly the BCs are way below that of a Berger, Nosler, Hornady....

So what is the hype? No lead? They are the most expensive bullets I have ever seen.
Is Barnes making bullets anymore? (I'm old idk)

I live in California so non lead is required. The Hammers are one of the options I tried and they shoot pretty good so that my reasoning. If I didn’t have to shoot lead free I would stay with lead.

Has any 3rd party posted legit BC numbers?

The biggest advantage of hammers is they are super accurate and easy to get accurate loads.

Secondarily they generally produce higher MV’s at seemingly similar pressures.
Lastly they produce good/wide wound channels for monos. Think of them like a mono nosler partition

For me the 124 6.5 hammer hunter BC was so degraded that the 110 hammer hunter made more sense in my 6.5 creed.

Also, they have been available when others weren’t.

I made the decision several years ago to stop using lead hunting ammo for a bunch of reasons. I've shot many, many monos trying to find what works best. I like Hammers because they always seem so shoot really well with minimal work, and I appreciate the extra velocity the Absolute and HBC line offer. When outside factors make reloading components hard to find, they have always been readily available, and I like being able to pick up a 15 round sample pack to try out a new combo.

My brother in law made a fairly poor shot on a mule deer, and the 162ah doing its thing at 3100fps still put it down quickly. We've had stellar terminal performance from them on elk, deer, and pronghorn.

Yes, I know, and it’s laughable. I’m glad AB has finally included Hammers. I think they have good intentions but some of Hammer’s business practices really leave me scratching my head.

Applied Ballistics tested a few of them and real BC was much lower than advertised. The owner of Hammer Bullets then dismissed the results saying Litz didn't know anything about ballistics.
Damn, it's crazy they had the gall to say that. Thats a lot of pride/ignorance if you ask me.
