Hey guys,

i tried to look and didn't see it so i hope im not bringing up something thats been covered already, but recently i tried to get some H414. that powder has been gold in my light rounds for 243.

i know you cant find anything now, but im not only getting that its not in stock.....im getting that its discontinued and they don't make it any more? i scrounged and was able to find some, but for future, ive been told that Winchester 760 is the same exact powder?

so are we sure that Hogdon is not making this anymore and the replacement would be the w760?

The Hodgdon website shows 414 discontinued as of 2020. It doesn't show up on the burn rate chart I have either. I would have guessed it closer to 748 than 760, but don't take that as a recommendation. I would call them and ask.

H414 was my favorite powder in a .220 swift I used to own. Prairie dogs were not safe if they were in view. John Kronfeld always said I shot prairie dogs “over the horizon” lol

Take a look at Hodgdon’s reloading data (their annual manual, for example), and you’ll see that they list the exact same loads for both H414 and W760. They are identical powders, marketed under two labels. Carry on with W760 As a substitute for H414 with confidence.

Interesting. I have a 220 swift AI and experimented with a ton of powders before discovering that H-414 was the sweet spot for my rifle also.

thanks guys. ya for that smaller mid range rifle that 414 seems to really be what they like at least for me so i'm glad to hear it will still be available in 760
