Gunwerks Nexus 6.5 PRC Rifle Ongoing Review

Gunwerks just finished up a bolt face for standard calibers. I’m expecting 6mm creedmoor, and either a 22 creed or 22-250 barrel option soon. I’m sure more to come, those are the ones that were discussed specifically.

I was thinking about one of these just for something different and came across this thread. I take it that the problems never got solved since it stopped over a year ago. no more review?

Regarding a switch barrel, I know GW has a proprietary system, but I figure the rifle itself wouldn’t hold a zero in serious drops being a switch barrel. Maybe I’m wrong.

My WTO switchlugs do hold zero. I have dropped them and tested them. 3' was as high as I dared drop them. I did drop them impacting the barrel first too in a couple of instances.

I couldnt speak to gunwerks though.

I'm not that familiar with the setup but there are switch barrel configs that are pretty robust. AIs dont seem to have issues with it.

My wife LOVES the stock and so do I, it’s so easy to shoot and spot your hits. It’s shooting factory ammo really well at 100 but I want to proof it out at 650. There is one thing that really annoys me but I need to talk to Gunwerks to get my facts straight first before I address it here.
Ryan, any updates on this rifle? Did the fix the safety?

Gunwerks updated my nexus with a new bolt shroud a couple weeks ago for free. They emailed me a shipping label with 2 weeks turn around! Excellent customer service! Safety is buttery smooth. I started with the 6.5 prc and ended up getting a 7prc barrel which also shoots lights out. I do handload the 180 Eldms to get the best accuracy!

At one point I remember Aaron saying on a podcast with Ryan that the trigger on the Nexus wasn’t R700 based. Does anyone know if that’s true?

That's what I read somewhere also. I think you have to stay with the trigger that the rifle comes with, but it's a good trigger. Trigger Tech

Interested in reading your review, Ryan.

A switch barrel system is intriguing, and part of the reason I have a Blaser R8. The only issues I have with the R8 is that it's on the heavy side, and isn't made in the U.S. Zero issues though, accurate, reliable, and I can switch from 22LR to 300 win mag in a matter of two minutes.

Nice to see someone in the U.S. committed to a quality switch barrel system.

Looking forward to reading it as well.
