After about 12 years of honing in a craft in long range shooting, my husband and I finally decided it was time to step into the ELR world. Since last fall we’ve been researching different platforms and calibers, and after a lot of discussion we settled on ordering our first ELR rifle. The Gunwerks HamR chambered in .375 CheyTac.

The rifle came from Gunwerks with the following configuration:

* Cadex Dual Strike Chassis with integrated 20 MOA Picatinny rail
* Gunwerks 31” carbon fiber-wrapped barrel, 1:8 twist
* Cadex MX1 Directional Brake
* Timney 2.5 lb trigger with bottom safety

For optics we chose a Nightforce ATACR 7-35x56 with the MIL-XT reticle, mounted with Spuhr SP-4902C 30 MOA mount. Between the built in rail and the Spuhr mount we were right at the bottom of the adjustment in the scope.

The package originally included an Elite Iron bipod, but we decided to prioritize more stability and swapped it out for an Accu-Tac FC-5 G2 mounted to the Accu-Tac ET PRS Competition Stabilizer. We definitely think it’ll be a better fit for the type of shooting we plan to do.

Couple things we knew going into this build was all out standard reloading components weren’t going to fit this large caliber. The one that threw me off the most was the standard ammo box are basically non existent. After doing some searching, we found a company called DNA Custom Engraving, which manufactures custom laser-cut foam inserts for a variety of protective cases. They offer stock inserts specifically designed for the Harbor Freight Apache cases, and can laser cut diameters for any cartridge you can imagine. So we bought the Apache 4800 case and ordered a 100-round insert. When the foam kit arrived the cartridges fit perfectly. The rounds were very snug, and the tight seals and padded foam on the top keeps the tips sharp. Finally the plastic insert added a nice touch. I definitely want to order additional inserts for our other calibers as well and really like this offering they make.

We are just getting started on load development. The current plan is to run Peterson Brass, Berger 407 grain ELR match bullets, and Retumbo powder. Once we begin ladder testing and gather meaningful data, I’ll update this thread with all the fun nerdy data of load development, chronograph results, and accuracy testing. And eventually how this performs at long range.

Looking forward to seeing what this rifle is capable of. Thanks for reading
