Gunsmith recommendation rechamber existing barrel to Ackley Improved

Are gunsmiths still rechambing an existing rifle barrel to a new chambering, specifically like 30.06 to 30.06 Ackley Improved? My one local guy doesn't do that. His recommendation is new barrel, he will chamber it for most anything, but doesn't want the risk of using existing barrel. I know historically, maybe 40 or more years ago, rechambering was more standard. If you have any recommendations for a smith who will rechamber existing barrel, please let me know. It's a Rem 700. Thanks for any and all comments.

I had kampfeld set back and rechamber (3) 243 barrels to 243ai recently (tikka).

Kampfeld did an excellent job on a 22-250ai for me.

My experience is most smiths will do it no problem like others have mentioned. I’d check for another smiths of your choosing. Kampfeld does great work!
