I'm on a .45 colt revolver quest and I have found some on GB I'm interested in.

Do I have to ask an FFL ahead of time to accept the firearm? Or are they linked to GB, I pcik one and the seller sends it to the FFL and they call me when they receive it?
I have one FFL near me and they have weird hours. There are a few more within an hour from me that run regular store hours that would make it easier to work with.

Generally yes that’s how it will work. Pick whatever FFL you want then get a copy of their FFL license and you will send it to the seller on GB. Once payment is settled they will ship it to the FFL. You will get tracking and know when it gets to the FFL. I’ve never had an FFL call me but I’ve also always been there within a day of delivery.

I look for zero cc fees and free shipping if available and looking at more than one gun available from multiple sellers when deciding who to buy from. If not, USPS money orders are fine and not much for fees, just adds the time to send the money and have them deposit it.

Basically eBay but you have to do whatever payment method the buyer has listed. GB has a list of pre-approved FFL’s that you can search by your zip code and see them on a map. Pretty easy. Just make sure they don’t have ridiculous transfer fees.
Not sure how often scams happen on that site, never had a sketchy transaction though.

The hidden money traps are expensive shipping, expensive credit card fees, and your state's taxes that gunbroker automatically adds on. After that, it's the transfer fees that your preferred FFL charges to receive your gun and do the paperwork for it. Occasionally a seller will also stipulate something like "money order only", so be sure to check on their preferred payment method.

I’ve bought a few rifles over the years on Gunbroker with zero issues. Just make sure it’s a legit seller with positive feedback.

I’ve always just asked my FFL to fax or email the seller. Typically the seller will send detailed instructions on what they need from the FFL. Pretty easy to get done.

No state tax on firearms and ammo in WV

I've noticed sellers stating no CC fees and some wanting postal money orders. No issues with sending those?
Haven't found free shipping yet.

No issues with USPS money orders just takes more time. I’d mail it with tracking- Priority Mail or whatever the 2day/next day air option is if it’s not crazy expensive but it probably is.

The FFL .that you pick, in your area, on GB will get an email after the purchase is made. Most of the time they will email a copy of their FFL to the seller. I have had issues with smaller sellers saying they didn't get it, then I contact my dealer to resend. I use the same dealer, they charge $25 per transfer.

If it’s from a brick and mortar store I usually try to contact them and see if they will sell after auction ends if there are no bidders. There are buyer and seller fees, I have seen stores list the same gun for 5-10% on gunbroker than their site.
