Any thoughts on spotting a gun safe in the house on a raised foundation? Will the foundation need extra support? Safe weighs 500# but may upgrade to near 1K. The garage is obviously OK with a goldenrod etc.

Wood frame on a crawlspace, or do you mean a block wall filled with dirt and slab poured over that?

Wood frame on a crawlspace

However the framing is going, grab 2 or 4

Mine is really close to a block wall so I just have 2 of these under it.

Without them, my bedroom floor would wiggle. I'm on TJI joists that are really long.

Think about how much weight one adult exerts on a wood floor when they stand there. Easily you can have 200+ pounds in a 18 inch circle. In a properly built house I wouldn't sweat a 600 pound safe that has its weight spread out over maybe a 36x30 inch area.
1000 pounds? Not sure.

It depends more on joist span and direction as well as the location of the safe on the type of house he has. Joist size is variable too.

A concrete pier and some 4x4 lumber will usually suffice.
Something like this is the way. I’m in construction and would absolutely not park a 500lb safe on a framed floor without support. Can it be done? Likely. Is it a good idea? No.
There’s multiple ways to achieve the support you need depending on your location and how the house was built, but you should definitely add some additional support.

Thanks for the replies. Kinda what I thought. Best to take the easy route and stick it the garage with a goldenrod.
