Looking for ideas on a gun mount for a deer stand. Hunt in SE GA in a variety of stands, but most are a two person stand with a metal gun rail.

My 8 year old son has been shooting well out of a BOG gun mount tripod so looking for options that could be carried into stand that he could utilize.

Bringing the tripod into the stand won't work due to size, so looking for a mount onto the rail that could help lock in the gun, swivel ability would be important. Not sure this exists so seeking opinions/thoughts from the expertise here

What about something like one of the ATV mounts that you could rig up to move along the length of the safety rail and it could rotate as well dependent on the angle of the shot? That's what I would try to recreate. Alternatively, you might be able to fit something to use that same head from the BOG.

Not sure of any specific products but that's where I would start. I have a 7yo that's lights out from the BOG as well and we have only done blinds so far because it works with tripods.

I've been using larger spring clamps. That at least provides a solid anchor to hold the gun against for longer shots. You can easily move it along the rail to suit the angle. In a larger double-wide stand, I have used a height adjustable bi-pod, just hold it against the rail to steady it and open/close the legs for elevation.

Mounting the Bog to a flat rail is easy enough but getting the swivel function is another matter. Even if you found a way to mount the Bog with a swivel I think it would raise the height too much. Maybe look at the "V" type support common on shooting sticks and mount it on the rail.

I nailed a doe at 320 yards last year. I had no rail but I had one of those gear arms that had 2 pivots and 3 sections that screws into a tree. I’ve been toying w the idea of a Safetey rail mounted gun mount

I zip tie a regular shooting stick to the rail. Rest/wedge bottom of shoiting stick into something abd top will be steady.

How about using the Bog as a mono pod, just don’t open it up. It will still provide some good stability without the legs opened up to a tripod.

Armageddon gear gamechanger bag. Just loop it onto the forend of the rifle. Grab the litefill if you want it to be lightweight.

Maybe not exactly what you're asking for, but I think the Primos Trigger Stick works pretty well. It is a very stable, adjustable and light rest, but it can be difficult to wield the stick and a weapon at once, depending on how much time you have to get ready for the shot.

My boy has used this with a couple deer out of our plastic blind windows. It works pretty combined with a rear bag. We also have no room for a tripod.
